Stanford University has put together an excellent series of short videos discussing Data Visualization as a storytelling medium. It is split into 8 parts totaling about an hour. Each section covers a slightly different aspect of visualization. The list of experts interviewed is very impressive.
If you have finished the book Designing with Data and want to begin dabbling in visualizations, I recommend you watch this video for inspiration and a better understanding of the tools you will be using.
